Pre and post CQC inspection solutions 

A CQC inspection should be seen as an opportunity to showcase a Home's services.

 

A Home should be 'inspection ready' at all times however, few are, but Cornerstone has extensive experience working with Homes to prepare for inspections, and to resolve issues that have been raised during a CQC or CIW inspection process.  Our work is designed to develop a culture of compliance and to identify and implement both the 'quick wins' that are prevalent in almost all of the Homes we visit, and make long-term cultural and procedural changes to ensure future compliance.

 

Achieving CQC/CIW compliance is as much about developing services that respond to the needs of the users as it is about ensuring the Home can evidence the care that it is providing.  Critical to CQC/CIW compliance is that the service is well-led and there is clear leadership and direction from the Registered Manager.    

 

Our work focuses on identifying key issues and providing recommendations and solutions to ensure they are resolved for the long-term.  Typically, the CQC or CIW work that we provide focuses on the following core areas:  

 

Pre-Inspection

- Pre CQC/CIW inspection audits to highlight areas of non-compliance.

- Provide recommendations and solutions to resolve any non-compliant areas.

- Health & Safety audits, providing recommendations and solutions. 

- Evidence gathering to demonstrate provider compliance.

- PCA assessment, as required by CQC.

- Provide monthly monitoring visits, to provide evidence for CQC/CIW.

- The re-writing and implementation of CQC compliant policies and procedures.

- Existing Safeguarding (SOVA/POVA) management and resolution.

- Quality Assurance and Quality Audit systems training. 

- Complaint management and resolution. 

- Design and implementation of operational care, quality and management systems.

- Design of bespoke Registered Manager and Care Staff training programmes.

- Overall operational reviews to identify 'quick wins'.

 

Post-Inspection

- Key liaison with Local Authorities and the CQC/CIW to establish their key concerns.

- Develop post CQC or CIW inspection action plan to re-establish compliance.

- Attend Safeguarding meetings with CQC/CIW to prevent resident Embargoes.

- The re-writing and implementation of CQC/CIW compliant policies and procedures.

- Existing Safeguarding (SOVA/POVA) management and resolution.
